Bringing this childcare center to the area was a transformational project that leveraged multiple partners including NEKLS Children’s Integrated Services, and Kingdom Children’s Museum to create a spectacular center that earned 4 STARS in Vermont’s Childcare Rating System the week before the Coronavirus pandemic started. We are committed to working towards our 5 STARS, however, that work has been delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Our childcare center is also a teaching center for students interested in entering the field of early care and education. We have successfully operated a Step Up to Childcare course that takes a participant through all of the required training to be able to be entry level for childcare, in addition to learning about their own character strengths, what a growth mindset is, and interpersonal skills for the workplace.

This program has been offered in collaboration with Community College of Vermont, Newport, North Country Career Center, our local adult technical center, and Adult Education and Literacy (provided by NEKLS). The first cohort had paid internships in several local childcare centers.
